🌸 Day Three: When the Phone Becomes an Idol
Sisters,
We’re now on Day Three of our Redeeming Our Phone Time challenge, and today we’re digging into something that’s not always easy to admit: sometimes our phones can become idols.
An idol isn’t always a golden statue—it’s anything that takes priority over God in our hearts and daily lives. If the first thing we reach for in the morning is our phone instead of our Bible, or if we feel restless without checking notifications, it might be time to ask: “Am I letting this device steal my devotion?”
📖 Scripture Focus
“You shall have no other gods before me.” – Exodus 20:3
God desires to be first. He doesn’t want to compete with screens, apps, or endless scrolling for our attention. Our phones are tools, but they are not our source.
✨ Reflection Prompt
-
What role does your phone play in your daily routine—tool, distraction, or something in between?
-
Can you identify one way it may have become an idol in your life?
-
What small step can you take today to put God back in His rightful place?
🙏 Prayer for Today
Lord, forgive me for the times I have placed my phone, my habits, or my distractions before You. Help me to see clearly where I have made idols, and give me the strength to tear them down. May my devotion belong to You alone. Amen.
📌 Tip: Today, try starting your morning with prayer or one chapter of Scripture before checking your phone. Let God’s voice be the first you hear.
