Breaking Chains: For A Purpose

FullSizeRender

“…The Lord sets the prisoners free.” – Proverbs 146:7

I hope you are enjoying this Bible study as much as I am. While we will only study the concept of freedom for the month of July, in writing this series, I realized it could have been a two month series!

The whole point of the Bible is to refer us to the spiritual freedom we have through Jesus Christ. The garden of Eden, the flood, the parting of the Red Sea, the 12 tribes of Israel, David as the first king, the prophets, the manger, the ministry of the Savior, the cross and the resurrection point back to one word: FREEDOM.

Let’s read Galatians 5.

The concept of breaking chains means so much more when we understand the backdrop. Behind broken chains there is freedom. I think of the legacy of slavery in America. I think of the bondage women in eastern countries endure. I think of women trapped in addiction. Those things are chains, physical and in so many ways emotional, but the urgency to break those chains comes from the concept of freedom. When we know true freedom, we want ourselves and others to truly feel free.

Freedom means liberty from confinement. The reason God sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins is so every woman, in every city and every country could find liberty from confinement.

Galatians chapter 5 verse 1 says, “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”

The chains Jesus came to break were broken so you could be free and remain free. I know how difficult life is, but sisters and friends, let’s be women committed to fighting for our freedom. The God we serve worked through generations of people and He fought through the devil’s evil schemes so you could live a free life now and forever.

“For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” -Galatians 5:13

The purpose for your freedom, the reason God graciously lifted the yoke of sin in your life is so that you could love others the way He loves you, deeply and pure. I pray for each of you so much. As God continues to develop this ministry, I pray those of you who receive the devotionals and who attend our small events live a long liberated life in Christ Jesus. I pray we never become numb to the lengths God went to free us from sin (Galatians 5:19-21). I pray we recognize how the love of God transforms our chains into robes and our fingerprints of sin into a crown of righteousness. We were freed with purpose and for purpose so let’s love God and others on purpose.

These days everyone is an influencer. The problem is, we aren’t always clear on what type of influence we are having. Godly influence requires our strategic faith and commitment to obedience. Are you influencing to influence others? 🐝
